Who we are

Founded by Roland Dib in 2013, Giving Coffee empowers local communities in Central and South America through the production of fair trade organic coffee that gives back.

FOR EVERY GIVING COFFEE BAG PURCHASED, ONE BOOK IS DONATED TO CHILDREN IN NEED.

FAIR TRADE. Giving Coffee is a Certified Organic and Fair Trade blend of the best beans grown in subtropical regions of the Dominican Republic including Jarabacoa, Constanza, Ocoa and Cibao. Giving Coffee also sources from areas of Nicaragua, where beans of the highest quality are found to grow at 800 meters above the sea level.  Giving Coffee supports and empowers its local producers and growers by promoting safe and healthy working conditions, offering higher wages than larger corporations who monopolize the market and protecting the environment in the process. Eventually the beans that are sourced through Giving Coffee are exported and roasted in the USA.

PHILANTHROPY. Whenever a bag of Giving Coffee is purchased, a book is donated to children in need. Giving Coffee accomplishes this through its sister company, Giving for Living. This International Nonprofit Organization was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to improving the lives of children in disadvantaged communities by providing clothing, toys, and books. Giving For Living’s main program, “Biblioteca Movil” or “Mobil Library” travels from neighborhood to neighborhood, loaning books to kids and teenagers. Since its start over fifteen years ago, the Giving For Living umbrella has expanded to include other charitable programs such as “Shoes for Books” which encourages children in the Dominican Republic and Haiti to read by rewarding them with shoes that are collected in Brooklyn. In addition, “Collect-a Bra” educates young women in family planning by providing gently-used bras (also collected in Brooklyn) as an incentive to come to class sessions. Not only do consumers appreciate Giving Coffee’s non-profit model and commitment to educating underprivileged children in developing countries, but these individuals value their own philanthropic contributions to communities in need.

COMMUNITY. Giving coffee is grounded in community – both here in the US and overseas where a majority of the organization’s work takes place. The strong support from public and private schools in Central and South America, as well as churches, synagogues, and other organizations have established Giving Coffee as a reputable brand that is able to continue doing good. In partnership with Giving for Living, the organization has provided over 120,000 children with books, clothes and shoes in countries like Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Haiti.
